Playing with Fire *and* Water Viper won bronze medals in the 2017 Readers’ Favorite Book Awards in the Urban Fantasy Category!

I never thought I'd see the day where I made an announcement informing people I had tied with myself in a book award, but here I am. Playing with Fire and Water Viper are the bronze medal winners of the 2017 Readers' Favorite Book Awards! I don't know about you, but I'm laughing quite a bit over here. I keep thinking about the judges and how they were grading the winners, and then they come up to the bronze medal winners in the Fantasy -> Urban category… and stop.

What the hell?

Because that was my exact reaction when I, half asleep, wandered to the Readers' Favorite site to check who had won. I had prepared myself for failure months ago, people. I just wanted to see if I knew anyone who won! That happened last year, and I was so happy for my friend. So I'm scrolling along… keep scrolling… more scrolling.

Wait a second. Those two covers looked mighty familiar… I squinted. Then I blurted, “What the actual fuck?”

I seriously thought I was having some sort of fucked up dream–the kind that doesn't happen to me. But sure enough… and there you have it.

Sometimes, working hard and persisting when it feels like it's pointless does pay off. I don't even know why I submitted Water Viper; I was so down on everything right around then.

After talking with my husband, I won't be going to Miami for the awards ceremony, however nice it'd be to get on the stage–I'm going to RT in Reno next year, which is expensive.

I never expected one of my books to win, let alone both of the books I entered.

To celebrate, I marked both books down to $0.99 until September 21, 2017, so grab your copy while it's hot. Note: If the price hasn't dropped to $0.99, it will soon, I promise! It's slowly being changed at all distributors even as I write this post.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I haven't quite reached my threshold for screaming and squealing yet today.
